STATEMENT FROM THE LOOP

The Loop warmly welcomes the announcement of Scotland’s first drug checking service. 

When we first introduced drug checking at Secret Garden Party festival in 2016, The Loop stood alone as the UK’s pioneer provider of this public-facing service. Nine years on, we are proud to see drug checking becoming embedded in public health approaches across the UK. 

Further services means more people can access high-quality harm reduction advice informed by evidence; more partners can benefit from timely information and insights; and we are better prepared as individuals and across communities for the emerging and changing risks and to prevent drug-related harms. 

We look forward to continuing to work alongside colleagues in Scotland and beyond to share expertise and learn from one another as the UK enters into the expansion of drug checking services.
